My refrigerator/freezer produced excessive ice causing the causing to make a strange and loud noise. I thought the fan/motor was damaged. Why is my Whirlpool dryer running but not heating?
On electric models, the most common cause is a blown thermal fuse — usually triggered by a clogged vent — or a burned-out element. On gas models, the igniter or gas valve coils. We replace the part and check the vent so it doesn’t happen again.
What does the Check Vent light mean?
The dryer is sensing restricted airflow. Clean the lint screen and the vent hose; if the light stays on, the duct likely needs cleaning — see our dryer vent cleaning service.
Why does my Whirlpool dryer squeal or thump?
Worn drum rollers, an idler pulley or drum glides. Replacing them makes it quiet again.
My dryer won’t start at all. What should I check?
Make sure the door is fully closed and the breaker is on. A failed door switch or thermal fuse is the most common cause.
