Repair or replace?
Door switches, fuses, turntable motors and vent fans are inexpensive fixes, and replacing an over-the-range or built-in microwave means new mounting, venting and trim. A failed magnetron on an older, basic unit can tip toward replacement — we’ll tell you honestly.

Great service and great working through the issue to devise a gameplan and help me get my dishwasher replaced. I started off with a dishwasher that broke down and researched a few appliances. My refrigerator/freezer produced excessive ice causing the causing to make a strange and loud noise. I thought the fan/motor was damaged. With the help of a friend, we removed the fan/motor and order a replacement. Well! I ordered the wrong part. My refrigerator/freezer was off for about one and half month. Microwave repair FAQ
Do you repair countertop microwaves?
No. A countertop microwave usually costs less to replace than to repair, so we focus on over-the-range, built-in and drawer models — the ones worth fixing.
My microwave runs but doesn’t heat. What’s wrong?
Usually a failed high-voltage diode, capacitor or magnetron, or a door switch. These parts can hold a dangerous charge even when the microwave is unplugged, so please don’t open the cabinet — it’s a job for a technician.
Why is my microwave sparking?
Stop using it. Sparks usually come from metal inside, a damaged waveguide cover or burned paint in the cavity. We can replace the cover and tell you whether the cavity is still safe to use.
Do you fix the vent fan and light on over-the-range microwaves?
Yes — vent fan motors, fan switches and lights are common, inexpensive repairs.
How much does microwave repair cost?
It depends on the part and the labor involved. The $69 service call covers the diagnosis and is free when you go ahead with the repair — and you get a flat quote before any work starts.
